The Kautz family has been farming grapes in the Lodi and Sierra Foothills region for over half a century and in 2012 received the prestigious award of “Grower of the Year” from the California Association of Winegrape Growers. The winery uses sustainable viticultural practices such as crop reduction, leaf removal, use of organic materials and drip irrigation to improve the quality of the grapes and intensity of flavors. Cover crops, which attract beneficial insects, are also employed, as well as the placement of owl and wood duck boxes around the vineyards and ponds to help preserve the surrounding habitats. With the high-quality of their grapes and the skillful leadership of Steve Millier, the director of winemaking, these wines have no choice but to be amazing!
We hope you enjoy a bottle of Ironstone wine wherever you are and send us a note when you do let us know what you think about it. Cheers!.
